Can You “Fix” Colleagues Who Aren’t Self-Aware? (repost)

This is a great article by Daniel Goleman, the leader in Emotional Intelligence (EQ).  EQ has been found to be more decisive than IQ in gauging an individual’s likelihood of success in pretty much every area of life.  This article focuses specifically on the interactions between peers and how to deal with individuals who have a low self-awareness.

Goleman writes:

  • What if you work for, or with, a colleague or leader whose lack of Emotional Self-Awareness gets in the way of them being effective?
  • Is there anything you can do to help that person become more self-aware?
  • Regardless of whether they change, how can you manage your own experience of working with them?
